The 6in mecanum wheel was a product that has existed for a couple years now. During my second summer with AndyMark, I was tasked with modifying the previous version of mecanum wheels to make them meet Graco's (Long time customer of AndyMark) needs. This involved identifying the issue graco had with the current version and prototyping a new solution. This new solution had to meet Graco's requirments and needs. This all had to be done very fast as Graco was needing wheels for production. This project taught me how deal with a failing product and modify it to meet a customers needs in a fast manner.
The Sport gearboxes have slowly started to become the tried and true gearbox to be used in FRC. However unlike their competitors, one product that AndyMark was lacking was a ratchet slice that will only allow the gearbox to move in one direction. Coming into this I had complete control over the geometry, weight, and strength of the slice. I decided it was best if the slice was to go between the motor input and the start of the gearbox. This way the force on the ratchet slice is the absolute lowest. Over many iterations and testing, I was able to take this project from just a idea, to a product ready to be used by the thousands of FRC teams around the world.
In the FRC world conveyor systems are used a lot. Within recent years about 95% of robots have some type of conveyor system. With this in mind, the need for a cheap and easy way to make conveyor systems was needed. This is where I stepped in to design the a robust design that is yet the cheapest on the market. This product took very little iterating as the design was nailed on first try.
